Clash of Flagships by VentusAerus Clash of Flagships by VentusAerus
What's happening:
The battle cruiser Manticore has suffered a sneak attack from the appropriately-named cruiser Ambuscade. As the Manticore jockeys for a better position, Ambuscade readies her main guns. The commander of the Manticore knows his main guns aren't aligned. As a desperate tactic, he orders his subcannons to fire on the Ambuscade, hoping that the ship will tilt off-balance and the shot will miss. The fate of the island in the background rests on the commander's gambit.

I just wanted to provide a detailed scene of a ship fight, like the ones that could be found on Arcadia.

There's plenty more explodey ship-battling goodness in Clash of Flagships II, which is somewhere back in my gallery. :D

Glad you're so absorbed in it.

 Very nice detail. I enjoy a sketchy drawing now and then. Your perception is good, why not try some still life? I think you could do some wonders with some practice in that category :)

Holy shit, dude! Man, now I feel totally inadaquate when I look back at my drawings. :P

Really, that is incredible. I love the detail. I suck at doing massive pictures, which are why mine are usually so small. But this is incredible. Well, it also hurts that I suck at drawing machines. :P

Thsoe drum-like objects are called capstans. A basic part of ANY ship, really: they are essential to the anchors. The anchor chains wind around the capstans when a motor runs, enabling the ship to raise and lower her anchors. KNautical KNow-how. :D
